Lessons
Welcome to 1 Oak Equestrian Club, we are excited to have you! Here at 1 Oak we offer lessons, boarding, horse training, showing, and leasing. Whatever your equine goals, our lesson program is the perfect place to start! We invite riders of all ages (4 and up) and experience levels to join us. We are fortunate to have several versatile instructors and therefore, we are able to offer lessons in several disciplines of both English and Western riding. We offer week-to-week payment or a monthly tuition option (pay for the whole month and receive a generous discount!). Feel free to contact us with questions about any of our programs!
Lead Line Lessons
For our tiniest riders (ages 4-6) we offer our more concise “lead line” lessons. These lessons are approximately 60 minutes where students learn basic skills like how to lead, groom, tack, and rinse their horse, and includes a 15 minute ride.
Note: Please arrive promptly at your scheduled appointment time.
Beginners Program
For riders who are new to riding (or new to us) ages 6 and up. These are private lessons that are focussed on basic horsemanship skills and horse care. In this program, riders are taught how to catch and lead their horse, properly groom, tack up (put on their riding equipment), mount and dismount, as well as basic riding skills. These lessons are about 75 minutes from start to finish.
Note: Please arrive promptly at your scheduled appointment time.
Step Up Program
Riders who are able to get ready independently are ready to join the Step Up Program! These lessons are 45-minute private or semi-private (meaning they are shared with 1 other rider of similar riding level). These lessons will be focussed on advancing riding skills. Once this level is achieved, riders may be evaluated and invited to join one of the show teams!
Note: Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to groom and tack your horse.
Group Lessons
Riders who are confident at their trot and have started cantering are ready to step up to group lessons! This is a 60-minute lesson of 3 or more riders. Group riding increases a rider’s independent thinking as well as situational awareness. It also helps better prepare them for the show ring! At this level riders are encouraged to join one of the show teams if they have not already.
Note: Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to groom and tack your horse.
